The Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears went head-to-head in what is being dubbed the most actionless Thursday Night matchup of this season. It was surprising since it was a crucial game that the former needed to win to make the playoffs and although they did do that, it was through two field goals.

Now, the Seattle Seahawks have done all that they could to solidify their shot at winning the division. However, their fate lies in the hands of a team that is well out of playoff contention. Presently the Seahawks and Rams have 9 wins but the former has 7 losses while the latter has 6.

The Los Angeles Rams are set to face the Arizona Cardinals this week, and if the former wins this game they would have won the NFC West thereby knocking Seattle out of the playoffs. If Kyler Murray and the 7-8 Cardinals hold the Rams off that would mean Seattle gets into the post-season. This is why quarterback Geno Smith is desperately rooting for Murray and his team to play the role of kingmaker for Seattle.

Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals intend to play hard despite getting knocked out of the playoffs

Geno Smith gave a shoutout to Murray during his postgame press conference on Thursday as reported by Pro Football Talk. Heading into Thursday Night’s game, the Seahawks had an 11% chance of making the playoffs.

Honestly, we shouldn’t be in this position. That’s the main thing. Understanding that we got to control our destiny when we can, yeah, I’m going to be a big Kyler Murray fan on Saturday. If they get it done, they get it done. We’re going to go into the last week of the season with the same mindset no matter what.

Despite Geno Smith’s belief that the Seahawks deserve to be in the post-season, their performance on Thursday Night says otherwise. Seattle won not because of how good they were but because of how bad Caleb Williams and the Bears were. The team proved it is one of the more inconsistent ones in the league and even if they were to sneak into the playoffs, they will be making a first-round exit.

Fortunately for him, Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are not yet ready to take their foot off the gas just yet. The quarterback made it clear that despite getting knocked out of the post-season, he intends to go out there and give it his best. The Sunday thriller between the Cardinals and the Rams will determine the fate of Seattle’s playoff aspirations.
