It’s official that legendary NFL head coach Bill Belichick is indeed moving to collegiate football as UNC finalized him as the head coach from next season. But Stephen A. Smith, who has previously voiced his opinions, reiterated his stance while delivering his final thoughts on Belichick’s new coaching job. 

Just last week, when the contract was taking place, ESPN analyst Smith expressed his unfiltered opinion on the matter by referring the UNC job “beneath” the six-time Super Bowl winning head coach. However, his words hardly affected Belichick’s decision as he signed a five-year contract worth $50 million.

In the latest edition of SportsCenter, Smith repeated his previous opinion of considering this collegiate football coaching job beneath the former NFL head coach, describing the move as surprising turn in his legendary coaching journey.

I do think the job is beneath him. For Bill Belichick I’m not going to say it was not wise for him to take the job. I’m simply saying it’s beneath him, meaning that this man is the greatest ever. It’s a damn shame this is the job he had to take to get back into coaching, he’s Bill Belichick.

At the same time, Smith applauded the North Carolina’s decision to go after the legendary head coach and secure him in a lucrative deal. He believes by having Belichick as their head coach, they might become relevant once again and embark on a new path to success.

Bill Belichick’s girlfriend celebrates his new chapter as UNC head coach on social media

Even if no one supports the 72-year-old for his new job, his girlfriend and former cheerleader shared a celebratory post on social media, expressing her excitement for her beau’s new chapter in college football. She shared the announcement image of Belichick confirmed as the new head coach of UNC on her Instagram story.
