The Chicago Bears haven’t had the best of starts to the 2023 NFL season. They are 0-2 after two devastating losses against the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their QB Justin Fields hasn’t looked comfortable leading the offense as he blamed his struggles on the coaches and the team’s defensive coordinator resigned yesterday. It hasn’t been a good season by any stretch of the imagination.
Defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned on Wednesday after rumors of an FBI raid at the team’s facilities came to light. The Bears later denied these rumors. Amidst all the chaos, ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith called out the Bears organization saying that it is a “shame they represent the city of Chicago,” and calling them “trash.”
“The Chicago Bears are trash. Let’s just call it what it is.” Smith said on his show First Take on ESPN. “They’re not a good organization, OK, Why don’t you just call them the bad news Bears, it’s a damn shame that they representing the city of Chicago. They stink!” Smith criticized the team’s use of their talented QB Fields. “There’s three quarterbacks in NFL history that have rushed for 1,000 yards in a season… Michael Vick, Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields last season,” He said. “He’s only had five designed runs for a grand total of one yard thus far in the first two games.”
He further questioned the team’s strategy to not run Fields more, “Why are you not running him more? Why are you not getting him out of the pocket? Why are you not using his athleticism? Because clearly, you’re trying to make him into something that he’s not.”
Fields only has 427 passing yards and 62 rushing yards after two games. He called out his coaches in a recent press conference saying he felt ‘robotic’ during the Bears game against the Bucs. He and the Bears will visit Kansas City to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles believes no one in his organization is ‘panicking’ after facing adversity
The Chicago Bears are facing adversity early in their 2023 NFL season. QB Justin Fields called out his coaching staff in a press conference on Wednesday, saying that he felt ‘robotic’ during the Bears game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team’s defensive coordinator, Alan Williams abruptly resigned yesterday after rumors claiming that the FBI raided the Bears facility. The team denied those rumors.
GM Ryan Poles has acknowledged that the team is facing adversity and insisted that no one in the organization is panicking. “No one in our building is panicking,” Poles said. “Nobody is flinching at any situations. Not our owner. Not our president. Not our head coach. Not myself. None of our players. Everybody is focusing on solving the issues we have so we can become a better football team.”
The Bears have started the season 0-2. They will play their next game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium and there are chances that the team will be in a 0-3 hole after that game. The team will hope to get back on track as quickly as possible.
