Two-time Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is all set to compete at the 2024 Open. He will be looking for another win to conclude this year, having already accumulated six victories, including the 2024 Masters.
Scottie Scheffler’s unconventional golf swing, known as the “Scheffler Shuffle,” has gained popularity among golfers. Despite deviating from standard mechanics, Scheffler believes it feels natural to him. Randy Smith, his longtime instructor, did little to change his footwork, which was initially considered a potential weakness.
In terms of my footwork, I just felt too kind of locked in and unnatural if I don’t do what my feet normally do. Because it may look funny to you all, but it feels totally normal to me. I never thought twice about it. Basically, I didn’t really think much about it until I got out on TOUR, and it really became something that I got asked about. That was kind of my calling card when I was out on TOUR was my footwork, and it was something I never really thought about because it’s just always what I did.
Scottie Scheffler said per PGA Tour
Scheffler’s distinctive swing became a defining feature after joining the PGA Tour, setting him apart from his competitors. He mentioned feeling “locked in and unnatural” when he tries to keep his feet steady, as it contradicts his natural instincts and feel for the game.
