Round 1 of the 2024 Open Championship recently concluded at Royal Troon. Challenging conditions marked the day, and Daniel Brown emerged as the surprising leader, finishing with a score of 66, six under par. His performance was impressive, as he managed to avoid any bogeys throughout the round.

This was a significant turnaround for Brown, who had struggled in previous tournaments, missing six consecutive cuts on the DP World Tour before this event.

Shane Lowry, a former champion, also had a strong showing. He finished the day at five under par, just one stroke behind Brown. Lowry expressed his determination to maintain this momentum over the next three rounds.
