The WWE Universe is just one week away from witnessing CM Punk going one-on-one against Seth Rollins. On the last Raw of 2024, these two superstars stood face-to-face one last time before their much-awaited clash. This promo battle generated a lot of excitement in the audience, including Triple H.

After the latest episode of Raw went off the air, Triple H posted a photo of the segment in question on his X account and expressed his announcement. The King of Kings was also very enthusiastic on social media when the match was announced and emphasized how this fight was years in the making.

Rollins came out to address the crowd during the closing segment of the show on Raw. He called Punk a quitter who would take his ball and go home if he lost. This prompted the Best in the World to come out, looking highly irritated. He took shots at his opponent’s wife, Becky Lynch, which the Monday Night Messiah reciprocated by calling out AJ Lee.

Punk explained how he had left because of Vince McMahon, while Rollins was always the former chairman’s favorite. He emphasized that the Revolutionary could run because the Second City Saint walked before him. The two exchanged some more heated words before staring each other down as the show went off the air.

What is the long history between Seth Rollins and CM Punk?

The history between these two superstars goes back farther than a decade. In 2012, WWE suggested that CM Punk should be part of a heel faction. The then-WWE Champion suggested that the company should instead bring up three new guys from FCW and have them be their own group, separate from the champion.

The Voice of the Voiceless suggested Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Chris Hero. WWE wanted to go with Roman Reigns instead, and the 46-year-old didn’t mind. In many ways, the Second City Saint is the one who created The Shield. After Punk left in 2014, these two continued to take shots at each other in interviews.

The Straight Edge Superstar once appeared at a WWE backstage show on Fox in 2019, and Seth Rollins challenged him to a match. Punk dismissed him during the show and did not give him much importance. Furthermore, after the Brawl Out debacle of 2022, the Architect called the former AEW star a cancer and told him to stay away from WWE.
