Andy Murray is still in search of his first ATP Tour title since 2019 as he lost to played at Andrey Bublik 7-5, 6-4 at the Hall of Fame Open in Rhode Island. He last won his Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2016. He has 46 ATP singles titles to his name. Being a two-time Olympic Gold champion and former World number one, he was a dominant player in the 2010s but he struggled with a lot of injuries and could not play enough matches after 2018.
Max Purcell won the men’s doubles champion at Wimbledon this year along with Matthew Ebden. Recently, at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championship at Newport, he lost to Andy Murray in a thriller three set-match 6-4,2-6,1-6. He played exceptionally well winning the first set but soon the Scottish player bounced back and won the match eventually.

Recently, in an interview, Purcell reminisces about the conversations he had with Andy Murray post the match at Newport. he could not stop praising the Scottish for his generosity and how he listened to him patiently even though he was going through a lot of cramps. He said “He was nice after the game, he said a few things to the coach who was working with me. I was able to chat with him a bit when we were dealing with our cramps after the match. I asked her how her legs were! Then he asked me what I was going to do next. He had cramps at the end, but he showed great class and didn’t close the door on discussion.“
He spoke highly of the Scottish player about how passionate he is about playing the sport and it was very generous of him to donate his money to help out the children suffered in the Russia and Ukraine war. He further added “Coming back and continuing to play after his hip issues, knowing he won’t be as good as he was before, but continuing to play and compete, I don’t know a lot of people who would do that. He must just love tennis and competition that much. Also, the fact that he donated all of his Wimbledon prize money for Ukrainian children is quite a special thing.“
Murray after suffering an early exit at the Wimbledon this year hinting at his retirement soon and would to coach Emma Raducanu. He is the only player to have defeated Novak Djokovic in the finals at All England Club.
