Nick Kyrgios thinks tennis is in the ‘mud’ right after another player breached anti-doping rules. Two-time Grand Slam doubles champion Max Purcell has voluntarily accepted a provisional suspension after violating a rule.
The 2022 Wimbledon doubles champion took to social media to reveal how he had ‘unknowingly’ received an intravenous infusion of vitamins which was above the 100ml limit. When he got his medical report, he learned that he received more than 100ml and informed the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) which has now provisionally suspended him.
Kyrgios, who along with Thanasi Kokkinakis defeated Purcell and Matthew Ebden in the 2022 Australian Open doubles final, took a shot at everyone who violated doping rules. He also reposted a user’s tweet that questioned the ITIA why they didn’t make the announcement when ‘established dopers’ Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek were suspended.
Gee wiz our sport is in the mud at the moment

Sinner tested positive for clostebol twice, while Swiatek had trimetazidine in her sample. Both did not receive a harsh punishment which is why they and the ITIA are at the receiving end of criticism.
ITIA on the other hand has handed Purcell the suspension on December 12 but did not reveal for how long he will remain suspended. He could miss the Australian Open which starts on January 12 next year.
Alex de Minaur says Nick Kyrgios is a force to be reckoned with
Nick Kyrgios is set to be back on the ATP Tour at the Brisbane International. Kyrgios has announced that he will be playing doubles in the tournament along with Novak Djokovic.
The 29-year-old’s next plan will be to give his best at the Australian Open and compatriot Alex de Minaur is convinced that Kyrgios’ comeback would be great for Australian tennis.
Kyrgios last played an official match at the 2023 Stuttgart Open. He recently played an unofficial match at the World Tennis League and lost to Andrey Rublev. De Minaur on the other hand was last seen in action at the ATP Tour Finals where he lost all three matches on the round-robin stage.
