Chicago Bulls star Lonzo Ball sent $2000 to Chicago Sky star Angel Reese so she could pay her fine for her WNBA ejection

Angel Reese had a tremendous debut season in the WNBA where she set records and established herself as an All-Star. But her competitive streak saw her getting ejected in one game after jawing with officials. The league slapped a fine as well which Chicago Bulls star Lonzo Ball offered to pay for.

Many already considered WNBA officiating a hit-or-miss situation. The Chicago Sky star first jawed at the official for calling a foul on her. She waved him off when she realized that the official called a technical foul on her. That prompted the official to issue a second technical and subsequently eject her.

To this Angel Reese went on to detail how much the actual fine was.

Do you know the story behind it? So, you gave me $2,000. Do you know how much my fine actually was? It was only $200.

Hearing about tens of thousands in fines in the NBA, he found that negligible amount surprising. Then he went on to reveal that he gave the $2000 fine amount to former Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon so that it reaches Reese.

The 22-year-old confirmed that she received that money in cash. Considering Lonzo Ball was coached by Teresa Weatherspoon while with the New Orleans Pelicans, he could trust her to pass that money to Angel Reese.

Angel Reese’s rookie WNBA season also saw her first flagrant foul

That second technical foul that led to her ejection was rescinded by the WNBA after reviewing the tape. However, it did not stop the Chicago Sky star from showing her competitive side. Officials assessed her three more technical fouls during the rest of the season.

In her second clash with rival Caitlin Clark, officials called assessed a flagrant foul. While attempting to block Clark’s layup, she hit the Indiana Fever star on the head. Initially, referees blew the whistle for a standard foul, but upon review, they upgraded it to a flagrant 1.

Angel Reese’s former veteran teammate suggested after that initial ejection that young players need to show maturity while on the court. In the remainder of the season, the rookie understood that WNBA officials were not as lenient as in college and kept her cool.
