“Make that $8 mil back in two weeks” – Bronny James as focus of NBA Summer League ads has fans going wild

Los Angeles Lakers rookie and son of LeBron James, Bronny James as focus of NBA Summer League ads has fans going wild

LeBron James is the de facto face of the NBA. Everything the league does is focused on him being the face basketball fans see when they think about the game. That said, his son Bronny James, now a teammate of his on the Los Angeles Lakers is also the most talked about rookie this season. The NBA has taken that into account when designing Summer League ads.

Washington Post’s NBA writer Ben Golliver noticed that the NBA’s Summer League ads were running across the country. What caught his eye particularly was that Bronny James was the focus of those ads. His face was dead center alongside No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr. That itself says a lot, as Bronny James was the 55th overall pick. Never in the history of any sport has a late round pick garnered this much attention. Moreover, no other player in this draft class has anything noteworthy for basketball fans to pay for Summer League tickets.

The league knows fans will swarm into arenas to watch Bronny James play. He is the son of the most famous basketball player in the world after all. Those are also the reasons why he had the highest NIL deals of any college basketball player. He also was the main focus for many networks in the days leading up to and during the 2024 NBA Draft.

But also, because he is about to team up with LeBron James. In essence, creating history as the first father son duo to play on the same team in basketball. Therefore, fans are not going to hold his measly college stats of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists against him.

Fans go wild as Bronny James becomes the center of attention

In the day and age of social media, fans of the game have more access to what their favorite stars are doing. Therefore, the heightened interest can help the league gain a larger audience and increase merchandise sales. Just like it is in the WNBA now with Caitlin Clark. That is exactly what fans thought off when this picture of the ad went viral on the internet.

Their comments suggest that they believe the NBA has found their new marketing focus. Check out some of those comments below;

Bronny James will be using the Summer League to learn from the Los Angeles Lakers coaches and develop his game. He wants to develop and play in the NBA for as long as possible. All the better for the league, as it can use his name to bring more fans in.
