The absence of star wide receiver Tee Higgins from the Cincinnati Bengals’ season opener made quite some noise recently, as it was found he has sustained a similar hamstring injury as he did last season. However, many fans remain skeptical of Higgins’ explanation for his absence and accused him of faking an injury.

While the star receiver has remained quiet on the ongoing controversy surrounding his name, his mother, Camilla Stewart, couldn’t hold herself back from reacting. She called out the fans for making such a bizarre allegation against Higgins when he was evidently in pain. Stewart also called them hypocrites for supporting the wideout at his highs but refusing to stand by him when he is struggling.

The same Bengals fans that’s talking s**t about my boy are the same ones praising him when score, make it make sense…FYI he can give 2 f**ks about what y’all say or think

The reason why fans accused the former CFP national champion of faking his injury is because of his pending contract dispute with the Bengals. They alleged Higgins deliberately missed the game to have an upper hand in the negotiations. To keep the wideout, the Bengals put the franchise tag on him, however; he opposed it at first but later agreed to sign the contract

Tee Higgins expected to sit out week 2 clash against Chiefs

The last time when Higgins sustained a hamstring injury, he missed several games, and it seems the 2024 season will see a repeat of it. After missing week 1, Higgins is also expected to be absent from the week 2 matchup against their biggest rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported during his appearance on the Pat McAfee show.

Tee Higgins has a hamstring injury. We'll see how the week plays out but I'll be surprised if he plays on Sunday against the Chiefs

The absence of the volatile wideout such as Higgins was immensely felt in the season-opening game against the New England Patriots. And with news about his absence from week 2, things are more difficult for the Bengals. If that happens, the Bengals are expected to bring rookie Jermaine Burton into the active roster for his sheer explosiveness, though there have been certain concerns regarding him.
