Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow's reason for gifting his offensive line Japanese katana is related to them asking for guns as Christmas presents.

Joe Burrow gifting his Cincinnati Bengals offensive line Japanese katana swords for Christmas was an out-of-the-box move, but there was no other way around it. Apparently, they wanted something even more lethal.

On Monday, a day after securing a crucial win against the Cleveland Browns, Burrow revealed the reason behind gifting Katana’s dating back to the 1500s over cars, jewelry, or something else.

Well, they wanted guns. And I was like, ‘I don’t know about guns, guys.’ [So], I was in the weapon mindset, and I was like, ‘What’s a cool weapon?’ Samurai swords, I think, are pretty dang cool.

Joe Burrow said

Definitely not the first option that will strike someone’s mind, but as per Bengals offensive tackle Alex Cappa, the samurai sword that he received was one of the best gifts ever.

My favorite gift I’ve ever gotten by far because it’s so different.

Joe Burrow sets a new NFL record

The Bengals are 7-8 after fifteen games, but Burrow has been exceptional. His 23 completions from 30 attempts for 252 yards and three touchdowns were his seventh consecutive game with 250+ passing yards and three touchdowns.

I put a lot into going out and playing well on Sundays. When you get a record and when you make big-time plays, I’m trying to get better at appreciating those and being excited about that. That hasn’t really been who I am, but I think if I want to have the longevity that I want to.

The 28-year-old is on course to eclipse his best-ever season numbers. Back in 2021, Burrow logged 366 completions for 4,611 passing yards for 34 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He is already ahead of the curve in completions with 384 and just over 240+ yards (combined) in the final two games to set a single season best, as after the Bengals, he’s on 4229 yards along with 39 touchdowns and just 8 INTs.

Even after such an exceptional season, bettors don’t consider Burrow as the favorite for the NFL MVP award. He is +15000, which is miles behind Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen with -500. It’s the win-and-loss column that is keeping him back.

Wins from the Bengals’ final two games will certainly improve his chances of bagging his first-ever MVP award. More importantly, the Bengals get to play in the wild card after a year gap. However, defeating a 9-6 Denver Broncos and 10-5 Pittsburgh Steelers won’t be easy, and on top of it, they need a few results to go their way elsewhere to think about playing postseason ball.
