Tee Higgins’ time with the Cincinnati Bengals may be numbered. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Higgins is more than likely to enter free agency instead of signing a new contract with the Bengals.
Many believed the Bengals would eventually cave in by breaking their tradition of not signing new deals midway through the season by handing Higgins a new contract. However, that seems to be a mere pipe dream. Additionally, rumors from inside the Bengals facility are far more concerning for their fans.
In his latest edition of NFL players who will be free agents, Jeremy Fowler predicted that Tee Higgins will no longer remain a Bengals player in 2025.
Higgins’ rookie contract will end with the 2024 season, and he wanted to sign a big-money contract to stay in Cincinnati. The Bengals, on the other hand, did not want to meet his desired amount and placed a franchise tag on him earlier this year.

At just 25, Higgins is expected to draw significant interest from many teams, with an AAV nearing $30M.

Initially, Higgins refused the offer and waited for a trade, but when no team showed interest in a trade, he reluctantly agreed to stay with the Bengals and play under the franchise tag.
Fowler claimed the Bengals will have to pay Higgins close to $26 million for the 2025 season if they add a second tag. However, that’s more than unlikely to happen, and he will enter free agency.
Tee Higgins is playing with a chip on his shoulder
Higgins missed the first two games of the season due to a hamstring injury and has been limited to five appearances for 29 receptions for 341 yards and three touchdowns.
Quarterback Joe Burrow is one of the Bengals players who want the 25-year-old to stay. According to Burrow, Higgins made some changes to his playing style to stand out more.
The Bengals need all the help they can being 4-6 after ten weeks of football. It’s unclear whether Higgins will play against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, as head coach Zac Taylor remains tight-lipped about any information.
Higgins since joining the Bengals has averaged 72 receptions for 1,009 yards and a shade over six touchdowns with multiple 1000-yard seasons. Taylor must figure out what he wants, otherwise Higgins will be a WR1 somewhere else.
