The Colorado Buffaloes faced a setback yesterday, falling to the 5-6 Kansas Jayhawks in an unexpected loss. Despite a solid effort from quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who threw for 3 touchdowns and 250+ yards, the team’s defense was unable to contain the Jayhawks’ rushing attack.
Following the 37-21 loss, Head Coach Deion Sanders delivered a humbling speech to all of his players in the locker room. Coach Prime gave his players a reality check after this loss and blamed it on their overconfidence.

The Colorado Buffaloes were the talk of the town after starting with a respectable 8-2 record to the season. The hopes for the team were to qualify for the CFB playoffs and give tough competition to the top teams in the Big 12 division. For a team that had won just one game two years ago, it was music to the ears to hear that they were a worthy team.
The Colorado Buffaloes’ path to the playoffs just got harder
The team was the clear favorite to win against the Jayhawks and it probably led them to enter the matchup with a sense of reassurance that they will be okay. However, that overconfidence backfired on them. Sanders concluded his locker room sermon by teaching his players an important life lesson.
Colorado had a good shot at making it to the playoffs when they were second in their division. However, now the team will have to pray that the teams ahead of them in the table; Arizona State, Iowa State, or BYU suffer a defeat in their next games. The Buffs will need to win the final game against Oklahoma State next week.
Offensively, Colorado tried to stay alive but defensively, they were run all over by the Jayhawks. The team had 331 rushing yards and running back Devin Neal had 41 touches and 287 yards with four touchdowns. It is hard to beat that kind of production and stay in control of the game after that kind of performance. Nevertheless, it served as a humbling experience for the Buffaloes who will regroup and look to close out their season on a high note.
