Bill Belichick has now left the NFL to become the head coach of UNC Tar Heels. He will now start to assemble a staff that should include quite a few of his former associates. Former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson observing the developments believes the 72-year-old needs someone particular on his staff.
Belichick has already made the first move when he coaxed UNC to hire his former assistant, Michael Lombardi as the next GM. That, along with adding his son Stephen to the staff indicated the new UNC HC will add a few more former NFL associates.
With many of his former pupils without a job, it is possible that some of them get jobs. The likes of former NFL head coaches Eric Mangini, Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia are all available. But when discussing this matter on FS1’s Keyshawn Johnson added this:

The former Super Bowl winning receiver felt Bill Belichick needs at least two or three Black coaches on his staff. Only then can he successfully convince Black parents about sending their children to UNC. Johnson believes the eight-time Super Bowl winning coach probably already knows that, even though his hirings so far have suggested otherwise.
Bill Belichick adds former NFL head coach to his staff
Bill Belichick has a bare closet when it comes to his staff. The only person confirmed so far was his son Stephen Belichick, who according to their deal with UNC, will take over after his father leaves the program. But his task was made easier when one former head coach was already part of the UNC staff.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport revealed this admission from the new Tar Heels head coach during his opening press conference. Freddie Kitchens was already the interim head coach of the program when Belichick was hired. Therefore, he gets to continue as part of the new regime.

The former Cleveland Browns head coach was the tight ends coach and run game coordinator last season. If he continues in that role, it could mean the OC position would be available for someone like former Las Vegas Raiders HC McDaniels.
