It’s finally here! Netflix has officially released the most anticipated trailers dedicated to the most dynamic position in the NFL— Wide Receivers. It’s a sequel to the popular “Quarterback” documentary series, produced by Peyton Manning‘s Omaha Productions.
This new docuseries “Receivers” focuses on the elite pass-catchers, who are a big part of a team’s offseason—but the first season of this docuseries emphasized the NFL’s signal-caller. The reason for this shift in focus of the players came out of necessity, as Netflix couldn’t convince the other signal-callers to be featured in the second season and so, they had to move to another position.
Regardless, as the focus pivoted to the receivers, many interesting storylines surfaced to follow through. Earlier this year in March, Netflix officially announced the second season of the “Quarterback” series which focuses on the creative team behind the signal-callers– “Receivers.”
This upcoming series features five prominent names, as shown in the trailer, including the Las Vegas Raiders’ Davante Adams, San Francisco 49ers’ Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, and Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown.
With the release of the trailer, Netflix also announced that the docuseries will premiere exclusively on July 10, 2024, available for streaming on Netflix.
The new series explores the NFL’s most talented pass catchers
Based on the trailer, the series focuses on many pivotal moments from the 2023-24 NFL season. These include the NFL’s highest-paid receiver‘s struggle with his hamstring injury and his efforts to maintain his title of 2022 Offensive Player of the Year.
It also focuses on Davante Adams’ challenges in adapting to the coaching change midseason, following the loss of Josh McDaniels to Antonio Pierce. Additionally, it also shows the determination of Kittle and Samuel to win the Super Bowl with the star-studded offense of the 49ers and a second-year quarterback Brock Purdy.
Moreover, the viewers will also get a glimpse of these five pass-catchers’ personal lives with their families, along with their journey and motivation to walk through the challenges of their performances and prioritize the game at all costs.
