Red Bull driver Max Verstappen finished P17 in FP2 at the end of Friday running in Abu Dhabi. The 27-year-old has since revealed some key areas for his team to work on ahead of qualifying on Saturday.
Max Verstappen heads into the final race of the 2024 season having already secured the title. However, his efforts have not been enough for the Milton Keynes-based team to clinch the constructors’ title. Nevertheless, he arrived at the Abu Dhabi GP fresh out of winning the Qatar GP last week.
Verstappen claimed that his RB20 was tricky in terms of handling, which made it difficult to come to grips with it. The Dutchman has since urged his team to work overnight and resolve some of the issues for a fruitful result in qualifying.
Max Verstappen: The balance of the car wasn’t very good today, which made it pretty tricky to drive and meant we had quite a difficult session. This is something that we need to work on overnight and we will be looking in to what we can do to improve our form.

The McLarens topped the FP2 time charts and have appeared to be the fastest team so far. They currently stand at the lead of the title race, hoping to win it for the first time since 1998. Up next awaits an exciting qualifying at the technical Yas Marina Circuit.
Sergio Perez’s take on Red Bull’s performance in Friday running
Red Bull’s Sergio Perez has failed to perform for Red Bull ever since the start of the current campaign. He finished P14 in Free Practice 2 at the Abu Dhabi GP and has since shared his thoughts regarding the same.
Perez: We have been trying a lot of stuff out there, but it’s not been coming together just yet. The car is not feeling tremendously bad, it’s just we are slower over one lap than we want to be.

Sergio Perez feels that the team’s RB20 has been decent in the long runs around the Yas Marina circuit. But the short runs and one-lap pace have been far slower as compared to the expectations of the Milton Keynes-based team.
Perez’s future with the team hangs in the balance due to his poor runs this season. The 34-year-old must therefore try and give his best efforts to better his chances of staying on the grid for the 2025 season.
