McLaren clinched the 2024 constructors’ championship after winning the Abu Dhabi GP in style on Sunday. The Woking-based team ended their 26-year-long after a largely successful season in 2024.

The Woking-based team’s CEO Zak Brown was delighted after witnessing their glory all campaign long. The Papayas won six times and amassed 21 podiums this year. They narrowly beat Ferrari, who battled valiantly until the very last race weekend.

He is just an unbelievable leader. He empowers people and pushes everyone to get the best out of them.

Zak Brown said after the Abu Dhabi GP

Andrea Stella has been a part of the Papayas since the start of the 2015 season. He was promoted to team principal in 2022, following which he made significant changes to the team. He has now earned a well-deserved break for his stupendous efforts for McLaren.

After the race, Oscar Piastri reflected on his season and deemed it a phenomenal one irrespective of the result in Abu Dhabi. The 23-year-old has won twice and amassed eight podiums in only his second professional Formula 1 season.

Phenomenal season is the line I will go with. Obviously, a tough night for myself, but I don’t think much of that matters at the moment. I am very proud of the whole team for accomplishing our main goal this season.

Oscar Piastri said after the Abu Dhabi GP

McLaren heads into the 2025 season as one of, if not the most, structured teams currently at the pinnacle of motorsport. Their main ambition will now be to conquer both championships in the coming years.
