Paul George‘s return to face his former team didn’t get the best of response from the home fans, who received him with boos. He has now addressed the Los Angeles Clippers fans on his podcast, Podcast P. George criticized fans for not filling up the Clippers’ new Intuit Dome.

The Philadelphia 76ers star stated that the Clippers fans not filling up their new arena reinforced the notion that the team feel like the city’s “B team.” After five seasons with the Clippers, Paul George moved to the 76ers in July, where he signed a four-year, $212 million contract.

What did I say that was wrong? I did not call Clippers ‘the B team.’ I said it felt like the B team… Everywhere you go, people in L.A. say you should be a Laker… But they proved me right. They aren’t packing out Intuit Dome. That’s ya’ll home… Go f**king support them.

In his first game against the Clippers since his departure, he scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds, though the 76ers fell to the Clippers 110-98. However, George’s season with Philadelphia hasn’t started ideally, as the team stands at 2-8, and with him averaging 17.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.

Meanwhile, his former team has fared better with a 6-5 start despite being without star player Kawhi Leonard due to a knee injury. This season, the team also took a major step in shaking off the “B team” label when they moved to the Intuit Dome and marked the first time they have their own home separate from the Lakers’ arena.

Paul George on the 76ers struggle with injuries in rough season start

Paul George and the Philadelphia 76ers haven’t had the best start to the 2024-25 NBA season, compounded by injuries to key players. Despite their slow beginning, Paul George has assured fans on his podcast that the team is staying calm

We feel good where we’re at. We haven’t played well, I personally haven’t shot the ball well. I feel like I’m starting to get my feeling, my timing back. I’m starting to feel like myself again… Once we start winning and figure out who we are, our identity, we’ll turn the tide and go the other way

With star MVP Joel Embiid not expected to play back-to-back games in an effort to manage his work load, the 76ers run foul of league rules. They had already been fined by the league authorities for a misleading statement on the former MVP’s health.

Besides Embiid, George and Tyrese Maxey remain crucial for the Sixers’ success. Although Embiid did look rusty in his season debut, where he scored just 13 points on 2-of-11 shooting, George has been on limited minutes, and still adjusting to his new surroundings.
