Jaylen Brown and Giannis Antetokounmpo

The beef between Nike and Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown isn’t ending anytime soon as it intensified after recent social media post by Nike dissing Brown. This latest rift was born out of the sports apparel giant defending Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo after a clash with JB during a recent match-up.

Jaylen Brown had earlier criticized Antetokounmpo’s actions during a game, where he pretended to offer a high-five, then pulled it back after committing an offensive foul. JB didn’t take it lightly and his comment used in response was reiterated by Nike in their social media post honoring The Greek Freak’s 59-point game last night.

In the past, Brown had accused Nike of influencing his exclusion from Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. And as a sneaker free agent, Brown then opted to launch his own shoe brand, 741, rather than sign with Nike or other brands that offered over $50 million in endorsement deals.

The feud has now added an exciting layer to future matchups between the Celtics and Bucks. The Boston as defending champions are second in the Eastern Conference with a 10-3 record, while Milwaukee have struggled at 4-8.

Giannis Antetokounmpo responds to Jaylen Brown’s ‘childish’ remark

In what was intended to be a joke, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown took offense to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s handshake fakeout during Sunday’s game. For the two-time MVP, he took the comment from JB without making a fuss.

Antetokounmpo while interacting with the press, expressed surprise at Brown’s reaction, and stated he plays with joy and intends to remain himself. Despite the tension, Brown had the last laugh as the Celtics secured a 113-107 win against the out-of-form Bucks.

Oh! That’s what he said?… I thought that I gave him a compliment… at the same time, this is who I am, I play the game with fun, joy. I try to surround myself around young people so I can stay young myself… He’s an incredible player. He always does the right thing to help his team win.

The matchup saw standout performances from Antetokounmpo (43 points, 13 rebounds) and Jayson Tatum (31 points, 12 rebounds). The Celtics in their next clash face the Toronto Raptors next, while the Bucks seek to build on their recent stability against the Charlotte Hornets.
