Carmelo Anthony shares an amusing story about Stevie Wonder's unexpected praise for his basketball skills, despite being blind.
Carmelo Anthony and Stevie Wonder
Apparently, everyone has a Stevie Wonder story and Carmelo Anthony wasn’t any different as he shared a humorous incident on his podcast “7PM in Brooklyn” about meeting the music icon at the 2011 NBA All-Star game. Anthony claimed Wonder told him he loved “watching” him play basketball.
The story sparked laughter from Anthony’s co-hosts, Rudy Gay, The Kid Mero, and Kazeem Famuyide, given Wonder’s well-known blindness since birth. The co-hosts initially didn’t believe him, but Carmelo Anthony insisted the interaction occurred as described, despite the obvious contradiction.
The lighthearted exchange has gone viral on social media and has garnered over 300,000 views on X in under five hours. Last year, Shaquille O’Neal also had an encounter with the music icon, which led him to hilariously assert that he is lying about his sight.
The now famous 7PM in Brooklyn podcast is now in its second season, and it features Anthony and rotating co-hosts, which include Monica McNutt, Famuyide, and 17-year NBA veteran Rudy Gay. He plans to announce his son’s college destination via the show and it’s expected to attract lots of organic views.

Carmelo Anthony also shared a humorous story on the podcast about an interaction with NBA player, Michael Porter Jr. during a game against the Denver Nuggets. Anthony had recalled Porter’s dismissive comment, which motivated him to take action.

Anthony, who is a proud NBA legend with a decorated career, admitted that Father Time catches up with every athlete. Despite his declining abilities, Anthony has remained revered by younger players, including Porter, who must have likely viewed him as an all-time great.
Carmelo Anthony had a storied career, except for winning the league, where he played 19 seasons for six teams. During his time in the NBA, he averaged 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 1,260 regular games.
