Manchester United’s problems under Erik ten Hag have apparently carried on to the boss Ruben Amorim. Several fans shared this opinion as the Red Devils ended up on the wrong side of a 3-0 score line.

United was up against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday as goals from Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo sealed the deal for the visitors. With 17 goals conceded in 9 games, Amorim’s tenure up until now doesn’t look bright. However, many claim that it is too early to make a prediction on the manager.

United opened the game with a hint of nervousness in their style of play, with Bournemouth capitalizing on the game. The first goal of the game came in the 29th minute through Dean Huijsen.

The defender found the net from a header and recreated his ‘chill guy’ celebration that recently went viral. A penalty conceded by Noussair Mazraoui and a well-worked team goal finished off by Semenyo gave United no chance to make a comeback. With the defeat, United remains in 13th position, exactly where it was when Ruben Amorim took charge.

Fans react to Manchester United’s humiliating defeat to Bournemouth

With Ruben Amorim failing to make a significant impact for United before the end of 2024, fans took to social media to make fun of the team. A fan commented that United is playing so bad under the Portuguese that fans have started reminiscing about Erik ten Hag.

Amidst all the criticism, a few fans stood up for the new manager as well. A fan commented that Manchester United have already given up hopes of finishing the top four this season.

A few laughed at Amorim and his supporters for thinking that he could change things at United the same way he did for a club playing in a farmer’s League like that of Sporting. Amorim himself pointed out that his side is playing with nervousness and that it makes things difficult for them.

Even though fans are quick to turn on the manager, it is important to note that no transition period is easy. Clubs and managers take more than six months to a whole season to effectively sharpen its game plan. As things stand, United has 22 points to its name from 17 games and is behind the likes of Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton.
