Manchester United clinched a thrilling win against their reckoning city rivals, Manchester City, in the latest derby that was played out on Sunday. Late drama saw Bruno Fernandes pounding home an equalizer before Amad Diallo’s last-gasp winner saw Ruben Amorim begin his United-City feud with a stunning win. However, amidst all the glitz and glam, there were reasons to frown for the Manchester United duo of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.
The sparkling duo wasn’t a part of the playing team against Manchester City. This led to the belief amongst many that this might be a disciplinary omission by Ruben Amorim ahead of the crucial clash. However, talking during the post-match press conference, the United boss made it crystal clear that it is performance and their display in the training that made all the difference.
Amorim snubbed out any possible talks of disciplinary infringements. Also, Amorim underlined that if the duo does well in the upcoming practice sessions, they will be up for selection in United’s upcoming clash against Tottenham Hotspur. Amorim highlighted that the team can win any challenge irrespective of the absence of any player only if they stick together.
Amorim reiterated that Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho didn’t break any rules; otherwise, it would actually have led to bigger repercussions for the duo. The head coach pointed out that he wasn’t happy with the leaking of team news while underlining that there wasn’t much that could have been done either in the era of social media.
Manchester United might be in future talks with Amad Diallo
In the meantime, Amad Diallo, whose career graph has only ascended higher since the arrival of Ruben Amorim, might have better days coming for him. The Portuguese manager has flipped around things in stunning fashion for Manchester United, and one of the key moves deployed by him has been the extensive involvement of the youngsters.
As per the Football Insider, Manchester United have set the course for advanced talks in hope of extending the contract of Diallo. Amorim has been heavily impressed with the flair of the Ivorian international, and the quality of football that he has displayed so far might just force the Red Devils to make a few necessary calls ahead of the weekend itself.
