Despite a thrilling win against Manchester City, things turned ominous again for Manchester United as they were trumped by Bournemouth in last week’s Premier League clash. A 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Cherries saw the Red Devils being flushed, and the questions surrounding the team line-up intensified.
One of the key players who has found himself at the receiving end of some serious flak has been Marcus Rashford, and the United manager, Ruben Amorim, made things extremely clear about the English striker. Rashford was a central figure under the reign of Erik ten Hag but couldn’t really make much hay of late.
Even in United’s triumph against Manchester City, Rashford wasn’t a part of the squad, and to double up on speculations, the English marksman underlined that he is eyeing a new challenge in the upcoming days. As talks got frequent about what his future at Old Trafford holds, Amorim provided clarity about Rashford.
🚨 Rúben Amorim on Rashford: “For me, as a coach, I'm just focused on the performance, the way he trains”.

United has had contrasting fortunes ever since the arrival of Amorim. Their most notable chapter under the reign of Amorim has come against Manchester City, as two late hits turned around the tide in stunning fashion. However, defeats against Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup and Bournemouth in the Premier League in subsequent weeks have once again left the Red Devils in utter disarray.

Manchester United landed the pair of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in the summer transfer window. The latter has proven to be an absolute powerhouse in defence and is being loved by the head of football operations at Old Trafford, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. According to GiveMeSport, Ratcliffe has hailed Mazraoui as one of the key signings and has touted him as the blueprint that should set the tone for the latter signings of the club.
In the summer window, Manchester United made quite a few signings featuring the likes of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, and the aforementioned pair of de Ligt and Mazraoui. Yoro is still to start a game for Manchester United as he was sidelined with a metatarsal injury. Despite undergoing surgery, he has returned to the training grounds and is steadily making progress.
