Sporting Lisbon are set to axe Ruben Amorim’s replacement within just eight games of his appointment. Joao Pereira was promoted from his role as the club’s B-team boss when Amorim left for Manchester United. It is stated that Amorim himself suggested Pereira for the job.
However, things haven’t gone as planned. Since he took over the club, the Portuguese international has only won three games. This has been a major fall for Lisbon since the days of Amorim, as they were unbeaten under the latter’s reign.
Their latest draw against midtable Gil Vicente further complicated things for them. Despite Pereira being in charge for just a month, the Sporting officials have already decided to act. As per Bola’s report, the decision to part ways with Pereira might have already been set in motion.

Ruben Amorim clarifies that he wants to ‘help’ Marcus Rashford
It hasn’t been the best of times for Ruben Amorim either, as two consecutive defeats for Manchester United have complicated matters for him. In the meantime, the situation with Marcus Rashford has gone from bad to worse. Ruben Amorim has pointed out that there has been too much decision-making around the players, which hasn’t been favourable.
He pointed out in an interview with Sky Sports that he is always willing to help Rashford. He also said that he focuses on the training regime of the players. The rest of the decision, however, as per Amorim, should come from the club itself. Manchester United plays Wolves on Boxing Day in their next Premier League clash.
