Conor McGregor recently unleashed a wild rant against Ilia Topuria during his visit to Spain. The UFC superstar was recently in Marbella, Spain, attending Bare Knuckle FC’s debut event in the country. McGregor and Topuria have a tense history, with the two having exchanged provocations on social media. Here is what McGregor said about Topuria and his home country:
Conor McGregor‘s latest rant targeted both Topuria and his national identity. McGregor dismissed Topuria’s connection to Spain, sarcastically claiming that it was his “home country.” Adding fuel to the fire, McGregor publicly backed former featherweight champion Max Holloway, who is scheduled to fight Topuria at UFC 308.
These remarks were part of McGregor’s broader hostility towards Topuria. The Georgian-Spanish UFC featherweight champion has actively thrown shade at McGregor. As for his fight at UFC 308, it will be Topuria’s first title defense after he secured the belt by defeating Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298.

McGregor’s antics extended beyond just verbal attacks on Topuria. His appearance in Spain coincided with Bare Knuckle FC, where he made headlines by stepping in to stop a brawl at the weigh-ins. Additionally, he stirred speculation about fighting YouTube star KSI after listening to his recent viral song. All of this shows McGregor’s ability to keep the media spotlight on himself even while out of the octagon.
Conor McGregor and Max Holloway’s comradery over the years
Conor McGregor, known for his brash persona, has occasionally shown respect and admiration for other fighters, and Max Holloway is one such example. McGregor was highly impressed by Holloway’s knockout win over The Korean Zombie (Chan Sung Jung) at UFC Singapore.
He took to social media to express his excitement, calling it “tremendous stuff” and complimenting both fighters for their entertaining displays. McGregor was notably vocal on social media about the fight’s quality, tweeting his admiration for Holloway’s performance. Given that McGregor rarely hands out compliments to other fighters, these comments stood out.

McGregor’s unanimous decision victory over Holloway at UFC Fight Night 26 is a significant moment in both fighters’ careers. Back in 2013, it marked the only time McGregor went the full distance in a fight up to that point. The bout in the featherweight division showcased both fighters at an early stage in their UFC journeys. McGregor was a rising star, and Holloway, though promising, had not yet reached his championship potential.
