As is tradition, WWE generally organizes a live holiday tour each year after Christmas. These events are sometimes filled with several high-profile matches, and it appears that Chicago is in for a treat. Gunther recently posted a promotional graphic on his X account. The photo advertised the Ring General defending his World Heavyweight Championship in a steel cage match against CM Punk in the challenger’s hometown.

Being a house show, the chances of CM Punk winning the belt here are slim to none. However, it cannot be denied that these two superstars will surely put on a clinic for the live crowd. The Straight Edge Superstar has put on stellar matches in many different stipulations throughout 2024. He is now about to add a steel cage match under his belt as well.

There have been several rumors about Punk soon going after Gunther and his World Heavyweight Championship. Some even speculated that the match was going to take place as soon as this year’s Survivor Series. When the Second City Saint instead joined the OG Bloodline in WarGames, many thought that this world title feud could be a major program for 2025.

Fans have already seen several wild moments take place during the latest WWE holiday tour. Many of these involve the former WWE Champion himself. Punk was recently seen rushing out to the ring in a towel and shower cap to save Damian Priest during his match. At another event, he restrained Dominik Mysterio to help Rey Mysterio lash his son with a belt.

Jeff Hardy says he wants to end CM Punk’s career

Jeff Hardy was one of the most over superstars in the company during his WWE title reign in the late 2000s. In fact, he was often referred to as the most popular man in 2008 after Barack Obama. The Joker to his Batman at that time was CM Punk, with the two superstars putting on arguably the feud of the year in 2009.

It appears that Hardy has still not forgotten about his classic rivalry with the Raw superstar and would like to square up with him once again. Speaking with Tim Hann Rivera, he said that he had achieved so much in his career. However, at this point, it all just felt like a glimpse.

So it’d really be special to have a killer match, maybe make CM Punk retire, and then, go into the Hall of Fame.

At the end of his career, Jeff Hardy wants to go back to WWE and end it on the highest note possible. For him, this meant retiring Punk in the last match of his career and soon entering the Hall of Fame.
