“I had three options,” Anthony Kim reveals reason behind coming back to golf and joining LIV

Anthony Kim joined LIV Golf as a Wild Card participant. This is his return to professional golf after a 12-year absence. He competed at the LIV Golf League beginning March 1, 2024, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Kim, 39, expressed enthusiasm for his comeback at that time. His last professional outing came in 2012, since he had Achilles tendon surgery, which almost disabled him.
Kim finished last in his first event back, shooting 16 over par. Despite this, he feels enthusiastic about his performance. He feels he can develop and recover his previous abilities. Kim is a three-time PGA Tour winner. He had his greatest season in 2008, ranking sixth on the earnings list. He also competed for Team USA in the Ryder Cup.
I had three options. It was to go the PGA Tour, it was to go play or come play here, or it was to not play golf. And all three had an equal shot…After a few conversations with LIV and the PGA tour, I was leaning towards not playing again. But my wife was like, 'who's ever going to get this opportunity again? He will compete in the LIV Golf UK this week. He is a member of a competitive league with 13 teams. His highest finish thus far is 46th.

Anthony Kim debuted at the LIV Golf Jeddah. He shot 6-over in the first round with one birdie and seven bogeys. He started the second round with two bogeys, a double bogey, and a birdie. Kim parred the next 11 holes to finish with a 12-over score after 36 holes. He finished 53rd, nine strokes behind Ian Poulter and 25 strokes behind leader Joaquin Niemann.
Anthony Kim played at LIV Golf Adelaide and finished with a +6. His round-wise scores were 71, 72, and 79 for a total of 222 strokes. This performance put him 54th in the competition. Kim struggled throughout the competition, unable to maintain consistency between rounds. His highest score came in the first round, but he struggled in the subsequent rounds.
Anthony Kim competed in LIV Golf Nashville, finishing tied for 46th place. His scores throughout the rounds were 74, 68, and 71, for a total of 213.
