Following a year filled with ups and downs, Gervonta Davis is poised to return to the squared circle. His arrival is eagerly anticipated by Frank Martin. As such, Martin is set on claiming the WBA lightweight title in his most significant bout. The spectators are keen on seeing the WBA champion back in action, leading to a surge of enthusiasm. Yet, this enthusiasm hasn’t translated into increased ticket sales, it appears.
Davis last fought in the ring against Ryan Garcia, setting a new record for the fifth-highest gate revenue in Las Vegas history. However, his current fight stands out because it lacks the usual hype and promotional efforts. Furthermore, it involves no marketing tactics or friction, which even Davis highlighted. This led to Davis attacking a fan on social media.

Davis stated that he would not be attending the grand arrivals of the fight because of the lackluster promotion. After this, a fan called him a diva for this decision and stated that the tickets weren’t selling. This did not sit well with Davis, and he threatened to send the fan to the hospital for calling him a diva.
Although it’s still considered a PBC pay-per-view event, it’s clear that the match didn’t receive the same level of intense marketing as his other fights. Regarding ticket sales, the 16,800-capacity MGM Grand Garden Arena has not yet sold its final ticket.
Teofimo Lopez’s prediction for the fight
Teofimo Lopez shared his prediction regarding the forthcoming battle between Davis and Martin. Scheduled for June 15, Tank is aiming to protect his WBA lightweight championship and remain undefeated.
Lopez is confident that the match will conclude with a clear winner, based on his forecast from a recent conversation with Morning Kombat. This implied that the fight would not end with a draw. Lopez also remarked that Davis outclassing Martin feels more likely to happen. In addition, Lopez advised Martin to take his shots since Davis can be lazy inside the ring because of his punching power.
Martin, with 18 wins under his belt, is particularly determined to show he’s the better fighter. This was seen after Martin claimed he injured ‘Tank’ in a sparring match a year ago. Hence, both fighters are keen to demonstrate their dominance.
In case you missed it!
