Floyd Mayweather‘s relationship with Gervonta Davis has been well-documented across the years. At one point, they had an unbreakable bond when Mayweather was his promoter. However, Davis later abruptly left Mayweather Promotions, causing their relationship to degrade. Their relationship has become sour, with Mayweather spreading misinformation about Davis’s next fight.

Davis is set to fight Frank Martin on June 15 after not entering the ring for over a year. The fight is a big deal and has gained much attention, but Mayweather has not enjoyed it. Furthermore, the former champion took to his Instagram story to share that the fight is being canceled. This abrupt news that he shares with his millions of followers appears fake since Davis cleared the air around the rumor.

The online spat between them has remained on display for some weeks. This was seen when Mayweather trolled Davis by posting strange videos of the boxer dancing. Subsequently, Tank fired back at this by claiming that Mayweather was stuck in Dubai because of unpaid debts.

Hence, both have gone back and forth on social media because of their animosity. The famous boxing journalist Dan Rafael also reported the news, claiming that Mayweather spread misinformation. This means that the fight on June 15 is moving forward as planned.

Floyd Mayweather asks fans to watch the UFC instead of boxing

Mayweather is easily one of the biggest boxing stars, but he still asks his fans to watch the UFC. This may appear strange at first sight, but it is only because the date of the UFC fight in Las Vegas will happen on the same day as Davis vs. Martin.

As such, beyond claiming that the fight was canceled, Mayweather promoted a different combat sports event with an Instagram post. The event features UFC flyweights Alex Perez and Tatsuro Taira. As such, Mayweather shared their fight poster on his social media. In the caption, Mayweather mentioned several details about the fight, like the date and the fact that it was live and free on ESPN.

Hence, the former champion seems to want his 30 million followers to watch the UFC event instead of the Gervonta Davis fight. This became even more evident since he spread misinformation about the fight’s cancellation. With a day left before the fight, it remains to be seen if Mayweather will pull off another stunt to target Davis and his upcoming fight.
