IYO SKY advances in Women’s Intercontinental Title tournament after replacing injured teammate on WWE Raw
IYO SKY defeats Natalya and Alba Fyre in a first-round triple threat match after replacing her friend in the tournament on Raw.

IYO SKY and Kairi Sane [via- WWE]
The fourth match of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament took place on this week’s Raw. The scheduled triple threat bout initially included Alba Fyre, Natalya, and Kairi Sane. However, Pure Fusion Collective brutally attacked Sane backstage on last week’s episode. As such, she was medically uncleared to compete in the tournament. In a backstage segment, Raw GM Adam Pearce revealed the new replacement to be none other than IYO SKY.
Sonya Deville pitched for herself to replace Sane. However, Pearce said that he didn’t want to reward Deville for sidelining Sane by placing her in the tournament. As for the match, the former Women’s Champion hit the Moonsault on Natalya to pick up the win. Furthermore, SKY has advanced to the next round and will now face Lyra Valkyria.
SKY and Valkyria have faced each other twice since the latter’s arrival on the main roster. In the semifinals of the King and Queen of the Ring tournament, Valyria pulled off an upset win over SKY. A few weeks later, The Genius of the Sky got her win back. With the match series between the two tied at 1-1, fans cannot wait to see who emerges victorious this time.

The other semifinal of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament bracket features a match between SKY’s teammate, Dakota Kai, and PFC rival, Zoey Stark. The winner will seemingly be crowned at the Raw Netflix Premiere, with reports suggesting the finals will take place on that episode. With that said, it will be interesting to see who makes history on January 6.
IYO SKY fan favorite to win the Women’s Royal Rumble
After losing the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania XL, IYO SKY had shifted her focus to the women’s tag title scene. SKY and Kairi Sane feuded with the likes of PFC and Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair, even earning a shot at the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Despite that, fans are heavily awaiting SKY’s return to the main event scene on Raw. Therefore, many are hoping that she wins next year’s Royal Rumble match and faces the world champion at WrestleMania. It seems that WWE teased a match between SKY and Rhea Ripley a couple of weeks ago.
Both SKY and Ripley held the Women’s World Title while facing off in the closing shot of Raw. If The Eradicator manages to finally dethrone Liv Morgan for the championship, fans might be treated to the aforementioned bout at the Showcase of Immortals.
