Six months ago, one of the hottest storylines in WWE was the implosion of The Alpha Academy. Despite fans’ investment in the feud, the company somehow didn’t pull the trigger on the ending. Well, the WWE Universe might be finally getting the conclusion soon, as announced on this week’s Raw. Former leader Chad Gable squared off against Akira Tozawa.

The former Tag Team Champion defeated his former teammate in merely two minutes, tapping him out to the Ankle Lock. However, the most intriguing part of this was that it meant Otis was next for Gable. The 33-year-old star was at ringside for the bout. During the match, Gable slapped Otis before the latter could retaliate. Later on in the show, WWE confirmed that Gable will be facing Otis for the first time ever on next week’s episode of Raw.

After WrestleMania XL, a visible change in Gable’s character unfolded as he began showing a more ruthless side. In pursuit of the Intercontinental Championship, Gable demanded more from his teammates, including Otis. As such, it felt like the latter was fed up with his longtime friend’s actions.

Although the eventual payoff to this story never occurred, Otis and the Alpha Academy abandoned Gable. Meanwhile, the Olympian entered into a rivalry with the debuting Wyatt Sicks. In the months that followed, the faction haunted Gable, who pleaded with Otis, Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri to help him.

The Alpha Academy declined the offer, which prompted Chad Gable to find new teammates. As such, he recruited The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile to form American Made. Unfortunately, the rivalry with The Wyatt Sicks ended with Gable and co. losing every match.

WWE Universe reacts to Chad Gable vs. Otis announcement on Raw

For months, fans had campaigned for a match between Chad Gable and Otis. However, for some reason, Triple H and WWE seemingly forgot about the rivalry. Gable shifted his focus to The Wyatt Sicks, while Otis and Alpha Academy’s appearances on TV diminished. Therefore, fans criticized the King of Kings for not being able to pull the trigger at the opportunistic time.

Fans facetiously took shots at WWE, claiming that the match was taking place soon. Others felt that if the company wanted to capitalize, they would’ve booked it for WrestleMania. A fan criticized WWE for opting to use Gable to push The Wyatt Sicks, believing it was not worthy to do so.

Another user claimed that this match doesn’t help either wrestler at this stage, especially Otis. Six months ago, Otis was one of the most popular stars on the roster, as the fans were heavily invested in the story. With that said, it will be interesting to see how the fans react to their match on next week’s Raw.
