2024 seems like a year of development for WWE, and there is more to come. Shawn Spears, also formerly known by the ring name “Tye Dillinger,” has returned to WWE. After leaving the company in February 2019, he went to AEW. He made his return to the company four years later, in the same month that he left.
The 2024 Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes quickly reacted to his former rivals’ return to WWE, as he tweeted the number 10 on his X account. This tweet came shortly after Shawn attacked Ridge Holland with a chair. This attack was a signal that he had returned to the company.
It seems that Shawn has, however, not been placed on the main roster but in the development brand of WWE, which is NXT. Many fans agree with this decision, as the number 10 had better matches and even had better storylines in his earlier WWE run on the yellow brand compared to what he did on the main roster.
Cody and Shawn share amazing relationships inside and outside the ring as well. They were tag partners back in their OVW days. While Cody blossomed in WWE, becoming the Intercontinental Champion, Spears waited patiently at the back. Both men even had a feud with each other back in AEW, which built their on-screen chemistry even more. With Triple H now in full control, it will be interesting to see how Shawn progresses in WWE.
