Dana White has been in the fight business even before he became the head honcho at the UFC. White left Boston for Las Vegas, where he was a trainer in a gym with Nick Blomgren and the late Roger, the uncle of Floyd Mayweather Jr. White had an interesting story to tell about Roger.

White was a recent guest on the FLAGRANT podcast, revealing his beginning in Las Vegas. He coached boxing for businessmen and housewives at United Champions Gyms. Blomgren taught Muay Thai, and Roger trained professional boxers. Roger had a temper, and White recalled an incident of it.

During that time, White also met with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Roger’s nephew. He revealed Mayweather had a flashy lifestyle even when he became the richest boxer. At the time, White never knew he would promote the biggest MMA superstar, Conor McGregor, against Mayweather in a boxing fight.

Dana White received praise from the undefeated boxing star

Conor McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. in boxing, billed as The Money Fight. Despite losing to the undefeated boxer, McGregor made too much money, reinvested in other businesses, and reaped benefits. Dana White was one of the promoters for the fight, also making a huge purse.

The trash talk that led up to the fight entertained the masses, with McGregor and Mayweather throwing shades at each other. McGregor even threw shade at Stephen Espinoza, then-President of Showtime Boxing. However, Mayweather showed respect to the UFC head honcho.
