Taylor Fritz made mocking statements towards ATP officials after a controversial moment in his first-round match at the Cincinnati Open resulted in his early exit. Despite having issues with the umpire during the match, he was unable to act then.
Fritz was stunned in the first round against Brandon Nakashima in the opening round of the Cincinnati Masters. After losing the first set early, Fritz had to fight back in the second set when he faced an unfortunate situation.
In one rally, Nakashima hit the ball out, but Fritz paused when the umpire didn’t call it. The umpire then stopped the point and asked for a replay due to a technical error.
Fritz went on to argue with the umpire Greg Allensworth, who stood by his decision, that the point would have been checked if he had stopped playing. Later on, Fritz questioned the use of electrical callings if he was supposed to make these calls.
This became a huge point of discussion as ATP officials gave an update about the electrical line callings. They revealed that, if the ball is called out by the review official and not the electrical system, then the decision stays. Fritz had the perfect reply to this official statement.
Thank god. If you hit a ball out then you lose the point…. Ground breaking stuff (laughing emoji)Taylor Fritz tweeted on X

Bro this gotta get figured out. This happened to me last week. Do better @atptour. Y’all please do better,Frances Tiafoe said via Instagram.
He wasn’t the only one who commented on it. Even Daniil Medvedev had a clear opinion on this. He was also in favor of Fritz and believed that the point should have been given to the American ace without any doubt.
