As the New York Jets conclude yet another disappointing season campaign with a potential 4-13 record, there are a lot of questions that the organization will need to find answers to.
The most important question, however, would be to determine who will be able to enable the players to play up to their potential. For now, Ron Rivera appears to be one of the frontrunners to secure the Head Coaching job of the New York Jets.
As per Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the team’s ownership and front office will meet with him later this week to gauge his capabilities and the vision he has for this team.
Ron Rivera has been the reason for the Carolina Panthers’ success under Cam Newton. He made the most of the quarterback’s abilities and this enabled the team to make the Super Bowl in 2016.

However, he was fired by David Tepper at the end of 2019 which then led him to a four-year stint with the Washington Commanders. In his first year with the franchise, he led them to the playoffs but losing seasons followed that resulted in him being fired.
The New York Jets are keeping their options open to bring in an experienced Head Coach
The Jets are inclined to bring an individual with a proven track record as the next Head Coach. In addition to Rivera, another candidate with a good chance of securing the job is none other than Rex Ryan. The front office’s decision to interview Ryan would seem surprising as he has been in these shoes before.
Rex Ryan coached the Jets from 2009-2014 and in his first two seasons, he led the team up to the AFC Championship Round. However, after that, they never made the postseason.
He ended his time with the team after securing 46 wins and 50 losses. Rex Ryan was then appointed as the HC of the Bills for two seasons before being axed and he has since been a familiar face on ESPN.

Ron Rivera has a career record of 103 wins to 102 losses. He went 26-40-1 with the Commanders and struggled to rebuild the team as well as he did with the Panthers. However, if he gets the job with the Jets, he has a readymade roster that is brimming with talent.
All they need is direction and experience. The Jets are not wasting any time in searching for Robert Saleh’s replacement since the interim HC Jeff Ulbrich is struggling. The team is actively looking out for a General Manager too since they fired Joe Douglas.
