The Oklahoma City Thunder are rolling after beating the Los Angeles Clippers in a convincing 105-92 victory. The win put the Thunder record to 6-0, currently undefeated for the season. Amidst the team’s success, former Clipper, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looks back at the infamous trade that got him into Oklahoma.
To give context, in 2019, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder with the Clippers looking to acquire Paul George. The move was highly controversial at the time as the LA team gave up five first-round picks for the then Thunder’s star. However, Gilgeous-Alexander credited the trade with shaping him into becoming the superstar he is today.

The Thunder star looked back at his short stint with the Clippers as a developmental step. Citing the trade to have brought him to the right place with the Thunder. He also shared his impression of the Clippers’ new arena, the Intuit dome and their new fan section ‘The Wall’.
Shortly after his arrival in Oklahoma, the star proved his worth immediately. The new Thunder star made major leaps every year after the trade and kept the team competitive. With the front office finally diving head-first this season, the team is looking to eclipse their first title headed by Gilgeous-Alexander.
Title hopes riding high for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and OKC behind their defense
The Oklahoma City Thunder are having one of the best lineups in years. Arguably boasting their best title contention since Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were still leading the team. The team is currently one of the only two teams to have not lost a game yet.
Thunder’s amazing start can be attributed to the team’s recruit, Alex Caruso, and the team practically playing their best basketball. To point out the case, the lineup featured 6 players in double figures in their recent win against the Clippers. The team’s forward, Jalen Williams credits the team’s defense for their recent performance.

Impressively the Thunder have held 4 of their opponents under a score of 100. Putting the team with a defensive rating of 95.1 is good enough to earn the NBA’s top defensive ranking. This is a positive sign for the city of Oklahoma as six of the past 10 NBA champions had a top-five defense.
