Detroit Pistons in NYC subway amidst Marathon

The NYC Marathon that took place recently was big enough an event to shift a whole NBA roster’s commute. The players of the Detroit Pistons were seen taking the New York City metro before the Nets game, and the video of the Pistons riding the subway line has already started making the rounds on the internet.

Visiting teams in the NBA usually take buses to reach the NBA arenas. However, the NYC Marathon covered a whopping 26.2-mile journey through the city which heavily compromised the traffic. The team’s detour was a treat nonetheless, given that it is not an everyday occurrence seeing Cade Cunningham and Tobias Harris trying their hardest not to hit their head on the subway entrance.

Amidst the hectic transport to the game, the Pistons won their matchup in Barclays Center. It was a great win for the side as the 106-92 victory marked their second win this season. With six players totaling a double-digit mark on the scoresheet, their NYC subway commute might’ve been a much-needed change of pace.

On the other side, the marathon turned out to be a huge success. The Staten Island to Central Park marathon race was joined by over 50,000 runners. Abdi Nageeye and Sheila Chepkirui won in the men’s and women’s category respectively.

Detroit Pistons starters on fire against the Brooklyn Nets

Following the NYC subway drama, the Detroit Pistons played their best game of the season. Coming into the match, the Pistons had lost five of their last six games. This win meant something positive for the struggling franchise.

Cade Cunningham led the way with 19 points and five assists for the team, while Tobias Harris and Jaden Ivey combined for 33 more in the victory. Malik Beasley also poured in 18 points of his own to seal the win.

In the post-game interview, coach JB Bickerstaff credited the team’s overall spirit.

I think the guys did a great job of bouncing back. The conversations surrounding the group have been to be better every single night we step onto the floor…Tonight, we played an identity game, and that was big for us.

JB Bickerstaff said per The Detroit News

The Pistons will look ahead to carry their momentum heading into Los Angeles to face the Lakers. The game will test the mettle of the team as the Lakers have been one of the better teams to start the season.
