Luka Doncic dubs THIS new Mavericks addition as ‘complete player’ and it’s not Klay Thompson
Luka Doncic credited his new teammate Naji Marshall as the Mavericks took down the Orlando Magic in a blowout win.
Luka Doncic credits another player to be a better pickup than Klay Thomspson.
The Dallas Mavericks are en route to their past season’s success after blowing out the Orlando Magic. The 108-95 victory was largely on the back of superstar Luka Doncic. Meanwhile, the Mavericks superstar credits the team’s recruit Naji Marshall to be an instrumental part of their win.
The 26-year-old guard, Naji Marshall was inducted into the team’s lineup in the Klay Thompson trade from New Orleans. Impressively, the guard’s recent play has left an imprint on his coaches and teammates, with Doncic even anointing him to be their best pickup of the off-season.
Marshall is currently three points along with three assists and three rebounds per game in his six games with the team. Although he might not fill up the statsheet, his game speaks volume for the Mavericks. As a backup, Marshall is currently playing 18 minutes per game, an impressive feat playing alongside Kyrie Irving and Doncic.

“Love his game man. I’ve always loved him, even when he was in New Orleans. I think he’s a very complete player. He can guard, he can bring the ball up, he can shoot, he can find the ball… going to keep getting better and better.” pic.twitter.com/iUy9Ms6biz
The backup guard only scored four points in the team’s recent outing. But he was just as effective as Doncic in dismantling the Magic in the Mavericks’ dominant win. Marshall signed a 3-year deal worth $27 million with the Mavericks that will keep him tied down till the 2026-27 season.
Luka Doncic erupts early against the Orlando Magic
Heading into the matchup, the Orlando Magic didn’t have any chance to win the game. With Paolo Banchero sidelined with an oblique muscle tear and Wendell Carter Jr. dealing with a knee injury, the team was counting all bucks on Jalen Suggs.
Surprisingly the Magic jumped the game with a head start, gaining an early 7-point lead. However, the lead was quickly squashed by Doncic, who erupted for 25 points in the first half alone. The Mavericks star closed the game with 32 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Kyrie Irving also added 17 points and three assists in the victory.

The team improved to 4-2 on the season, while the Magic fell to 3-4, a rough start for Orlando as their superstar Banchero is reportedly out for a minimum of four weeks. The losing effort also resulted in Carter Jr. exiting the game with a knee tendinitis after a wrong landing.
