Damian Lillard comes in defense of Doc Rivers with a solid 2-word response after Bucks’ embarrassing 1-6 start to the season
Damian Lillard quickly rubbishes the idea of firing Bucks' head coach Doc Rivers amidst controversial rumors.
Damian Lillard comes to the defense of Doc Rivers.
The Milwaukee Bucks are in deep waters after losing six straight games into the season. The team had struggled to close out games leading many to shift the blame on the team’s head coach, Doc Rivers. However, Buck’s guard, Damian Lillard, quickly came to Rivers’ defense.
Coming into the season the Bucks were heavy favorites in the Eastern Conference. All barring expectations seem to have fallen off after consecutive games of disappointment.
This led to fans even flaunting the idea of firing the head coach on Lillard’s Instagram comments. The push for sacking the HC has been gaining momentum for a few weeks now, but Damian Lillard would have none of it.

Since Buck’s management decided to replace Adrian Griffin earlier this year, the team has struggled to find success. Under Rivers as the head coach, the team compiled a measly 19-26 record. A stark comparison to Griffin, who had a 30-13 record with the Bucks at the time of his firing.
Despite the team not being able to win games, Lillard and his running mate Giannis Antetokounmpo has been stuffing up the stat-sheet. This led many to pin the blame on their head coach. However, further inspection of the team revealed that the coaching might only be a part of the ‘problem’.
Milwaukee Bucks await Khris Middleton’s return amidst losing streak
The Milwaukee Bucks are currently 1-6 to start the 2024 NBA season, good enough only for the 15th position in the Eastern Conference. The team is now fully banking on the return of their star Khris Middleton to swoop them out of their six-game losing streak.
The Bucks forward has been ruled out indefinitely with no clear timetable for his return. The star has dealt with injuries on both ankles last season with his current injury being his right ankle. This marks his continuous absence since the team’s second-round exit in the 2023-24 Playoffs.

"He has yet to be cleared for 5 on 5 scrimmaging. Team officials have recognized that this is taking much longer than they anticipated" 😬

Middleton had ankle surgery over the summer and is still in rehab. As per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the star is still far from a return. The forward’s impact is clearly felt as the team ranks 13th in average threes made (13.0) and 15th in three-point percentage (35.4) in his absence.
