Jimmy Fallon jumped in on the viral Raygun trend after the Paris Olympics in 2024. Australian break-dancer Raygun gave an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon by interrupting Fallon’s monologue. However, if you looked closely, it was comedian Rachel Dratch dressed up as Raygun, break-dancing her way through Jimmy Fallon’s monologue.

Jimmy Fallon is much known for parodies and satires. On the latest episode of the Tonight Show, Rachel Dratch dressed up as Raygun and performed bits of her routine from the Paris Olympics. She also performed her much-trolled ‘kangaroo hoops’ gaining a laugh from the audience.

Breakdancing made its way to the Olympics at the Paris Olympics. It was the first time people saw the category at the Olympic games and it was also the last. Raygun made the headlines during the games, although not for the right reasons. She was the only participant in the men’s and women’s category to have received a score of zero in any of the battles. Although, she was a good sport about it.

Rachel Gunn, known as Raygun, qualified for the games by winning the 2023 Oceania Championship. She left a mark at the Paris Olympics, being one of the most talked about athletes in the world. However, she also faced scrutiny and public disapproval.

Raygun remains unfazed by the criticism

Raygun’s performances garnered significant attention around the globe, bringing in all sorts of opinions her way. Many of the trolls called her moves children’s antics and “kangaroo-like”. However, Gunn remained unfazed by all that.

In an interview post the performance, she revealed that she knew she wasn’t going to beat those girls in what they did best. She advocated creativity and innovation in her dance and stood by what she felt was original. She securely spoke to the interviewer when she said that she brought artistry to the table. Despite the trolls, she prepared herself, knowing that it may or may not have spoken to people.

However, there is always a silver lining. She achieved what she initially wanted, that was, leaving a mark. Critics come and go, but some people appreciated her for being herself and representing the country on the platform she stood. She was also defended by Australia’s chef de mission, Anna Meares.
