A WWE Hall of Famer has stressed that he's never held grudges against CM Punk. The two reportedly had a rough backstage tryst in March.

There hasn’t been a single negative story encircling CM Punk since his WWE return last November. But earlier this year, his fellow employee and current NXT commentator, Booker T, allegedly ran into Punk while on site for an NXT taping in mid-March. At that juncture, Booker didn’t disclose what transpired between the two, casting a sheath of enigma on the fans. It now appears like there’s not much to worry about.
In fact, the WWE Hall of Famer is claiming that he never really had any beef with CM Punk to begin with. This past Tuesday night on NXT, The Best in the World was on the show. Punk and Booker chatted for a while, and it was refreshing, said the 59-year-old on his ‘Hall of Fame’ podcast. The latter quashed the general consensus of not getting along with Punk.
Moreover, the former WCW Champion added that he was never reproving Punk, even when he was in AEW. Admittedly, Booker T wasn’t pleased with the promo Punk delivered upon his AEW debut in 2021. However, in Booker’s words, it was nothing but constructive criticism. The 2006 King of the Ring wasn’t being mean to Punk in any way. As things stand, it’s water under the bridge, and both men are on good terms.
If you guys noticed on Tuesday night NXT, I ran into CM Punk. We had words. It was refreshing. I know people were tripping when they saw that. The thing is, CM Punk and I never really had any beef. We really never did.Booker T on his Hall of Fame podcast
Interestingly, the aforementioned backstage confrontation between them never actually happened. Fightful reported that not even the security personnel were made aware of any incident that night. The outlet also added that it was a matter of “Booker being Booker” and he was just messing around.
Albeit, that ensued a sense of frustration among those who were backstage on NXT. They were upset at the former Harlem Heat member’s insensitive conduct, dragging Punk into bad PR, given his notorious off-camera history.
Why was CM Punk on NXT this week?
Originally, CM Punk was set to deliver an announcement on this week’s episode of NXT. However, the Chicagoan was cut short by his wrestling daughter-cum-NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. She told Punk that she should’ve been a Drew McIntyre fan.
The jab was followed up with Perez claiming she always did prefer Punk’s wife. Shortly into the segment, Giulia made her way out. She went right into Roxanne’s face to tell her that The Prodigy only has a couple of weeks left as the champion.
These women will battle it out for the NXT Women’s title on the CW premiere of NXT, dated October 1. In addition, on the same night, CM Punk will officiate the NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams.
