Caitlin Clark has become ‘vessel’ for homophobia and racism, claims Jemele Hill
Jemele Hill believes the likes of Megyn Kelly were using Caitlin Clark for their racist attacks on WNBA players.
WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark and Jemele Hill
Ever since Caitlin Clark gave her opinion about respecting Black athletes in TIME magazine’s Athlete of The Year interview, a wave of criticism has been directed at her. With many suggesting the WNBA star allegedly bowed down to WOKE culture, former detractor Jemele Hill has another view.
Their discussion on The Dan Le Batard Show was based on what Megyn Kelly said about Clark. Kelly suggested Clark was being disrespectful to her race while also trying to make everyone happy by praising Black athletes.
Jason Whitlock added to the conversation by suggesting that the 22-year-old has sold out trying to appease everyone. Along with them were a league of fans who suggested they may not watch the WNBA going forward.
Jemele Hill, however, was one of the early critics of Caitlin Clark, who suggested that the WNBA rookie’s popularity was leaving Black athletes feeling left out. But after seeing the backlash she has faced for revealing her true feelings, Hill said this:
"Caitlin Clark became their avatar. She became their vessel to express a lot of their hateful and racist opinions that they had against black women, against queer women and about the WNBA overall. —They were never fans of hers." @jemelehill on why the reaction to Caitlin… pic.twitter.com/BxMVwlD30Y

Jemele Hill added that what Clark spoke the truth about white players benefitting from endorsement deals and popularity that Black women have not had. When she spoke up about it, those who were weaponizing her as their avatar to inflict their hate on Black athletes have been ticked off.
Megyn Kelly continues her tirade against Caitlin Clark
The one to bring all this tirade against Caitlin Clark has been Kelly. The reporter started the notion that the Indiana Fever star had bent her knee to try and appease everyone. That quickly caught on with a huge section of her fans.
However, at the Time magazine party, she held her ground. She doubled-down on her view about the league being built on the efforts of Black women. This did not seem to sit well with Megyn Kelly, and she turned to her namesake show to say this:
NEW: Caitlin Clark doubles down, says she will help elevate black WNBA players because it's "very important."

Clark was asked about "race and gender and s*xuality in sport" and specifically about comments made by Megyn Kelly.

The former FOX reporter suggested that reactions to her post on X proves the WNBA Rookie of the Year has lost most of her fans.

They are also with her in believing that Caitlin Clark has bent her knee to appease the WOKE culture. Next season will show who among Hill and Kelly was right.
