'You need Caitlin Clark to beat us' sign at Paris Olympics 2024 stuns WNBA star studded Team USA women's team

Team USA women’s basketball is on the quest to win their eighth straight gold medal. For that reason, the selection committee put together a team of the best basketball players in the WNBA, who have chemistry. Those reasons meant rookie superstar Caitlin Clark was snubbed. Disappointing millions of fans. One of those fans ended up before Team USA’s first game against Japan at the Paris Olympics 2024 and ended up shocking the superstar.

A viral video is doing the rounds on social media where it shows Team USA’s players going through their warmup drills. While that was happening, superstar A’ja Wilson noticed something in the crowd and pointed it out to national teammates Alyssa Thomas and Brittney Griner. The camera panned towards that side to show a fan standing with a sign. It read:

“You need Caitlin Clark to beat us.”

The stunned look on Wilson’s and her teammate’s faces suggests they did not expect this to happen in Paris. That a fan would come to Paris with her name on a sign board.

Before the team was decided, some veterans pointed out that if Caitlin Clark had made it to the team, she would be glued to the bench. But little did they expect a fan to turn up at the Paris Olympics 2024 and hold up a sign featuring Clark, to taunt them.

This seemed to confirm that several people across the globe have been tuning in to watch the WNBA. All because of the former Iowa rookie. It seems now that it was a missed opportunity. But Clark wants to be one of the best in the league first, before eventually playing in the next Olympics.

Caitlin Clark likely to make the 2028 Olympics squad

This Team USA women’s basketball team has a mix of veterans, middle-aged players, and younger stars. But when the 2028 Summer Games come around, 4 of those veterans will be over 35, and 2 just about to reach that mark. Diana Taurasi has already confirmed that this is her last Olympics. That leaves Brittney Griner, Chelsea Gray, and Alyssa Thomas, who still could be able to compete.

But Team USA will have a fresh core of elite young players at their disposal. That will naturally make them want to bring in the next generation rather than focus on veterans. This means current young superstars, Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Aliyah Boston will be primed to take over. They will also have 4 years of playing in the WNBA under their belt.

Important experience that will be crucial in their attempts to play together in the 2028 games. With Clark and Reese already breaking records, it will not be long before they participate in Team USA practices. Then maybe be a part of FIBA tournaments down the line.
