Drafted as the first overall pick in 2018, Baker Mayfield stood up to his reputation in the Cleveland Browns by ending their playoff victory drought of nearly three decades. Despite an impressive record, Mayfield’s departure from the Browns remains one of the dirtiest in the league involving a lot of elements.
By labeling the young quarterback as “immature,” the Browns traded him to the Carolina Panthers. They publicly humiliated Mayfield and referred to him as unfit to lead the team to the Super Bowl. However, after a solid win in Week 17, the quarterback is on the quest to secure his second playoff appearance in a row with the Bucs– meanwhile, the Browns are standing with a 3-13 record.
Though Mayfield may have moved on from his infamous departure from Cleveland, Robert Griffin III hasn’t. After the impressive 48-14 victory over Panthers, the sports analyst showered high praise on the Bucs’ star quarterback and gave a special mention to the Browns for labeling Mayfield unfit.
The Cleveland Browns tried to destroy Baker Mayfield’s NFL career and reputation after he helped them end the NFL’s longest post season drought and win their first playoff game in 26 years.

Griffin III appreciated Mayfield for believing in himself despite the attempts of the Browns to jeopardize his career. And it has paid off well for him as he recorded a career-high 4,279 yards, and 39 touchdowns– which is ranked second highest in the league.
Bucs on the brink of NFC South title over Falcons
After this win, the Bucs have improved to a 9-7 record and increased odds of clinching the playoff berth and the NFC South title with the help of the Washington Commander’s Jayden Daniels. Previously, the Bucs and the Falcons were tied for the first spot in the division, but after the Falcons’ loss at the hands of Commanders, the Bucs are in the lead.
If the Bucs succeed in scoring a victory in Week 18 against the New Orleans Saints, they shall win the division title of NFC South. However, if the Falcons win and the Bucs lose, the Tampa Bay-based team would not only lose the divisional title but also get eliminated from playoff contention.
The only chance possible for Mayfield’s Bucs to secure a spot in the playoffs after all the wild-card rounds have been filled in by acquiring the divisional title, and that shall come with a victory in Week 18.
