The Cincinnati Bengals are still in the ring. It has been a rough season for the team but the offense has not given up despite the shortcomings of the defense. The team’s Week 17 win against the Denver Broncos was not one without its share of hardships.
The matchup was forced into overtime and despite the Bengals missing an opportunity to win the game due to a missed field goal from Cade York, quarterback Joe Burrow managed to orchestrate a game-winning touchdown drive. He ended the night with 437 yards and 4 touchdowns and the crowd at Paycor Stadium could not help but chant “MVP MVP MVP” as he left the field.
The quarterback has been the sole reason that the Bengals have managed to have a dog in the fight this season. He leads the NFL in terms of yards thrown and touchdowns with 4,641 and 42 respectively. Despite these remarkable numbers, the shocking fact is his odds of winning the MVP Award are +10000.

Joe Burrow is not a top candidate to win the MVP due to the Bengals’ underwhelming record
The point of the Most Valuable Player Award is to recognize the player without whom the team would not have been successful. Without Joe Burrow, Cincinnati would not succeed, and the franchise would be lucky to have 4 wins over the whole season.
The only reason that the quarterback is not in the running to win is because of the team’s struggles this season. Cincinnati’s passing offense is the best in the NFL, they are averaging 267.3 yards per game and have a total of 39 passing touchdowns. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase are having remarkable seasons and Tee Higgins has come in clutch for the team.
Apart from fans, even competitors have recognized that Joe Burrow deserves to be the MVP this year.
Emmanuel Acho also hailed the quarterback and his ability to win despite his team’s errors. The Bengals’ quarterback has had a season to remember and even though he will not win the Award, his heroics this season will not go in vain as Cincinnati still has an opportunity to make it to the playoffs.
