Carmelo Anthony and Karl-Anthony Towns

New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns most recently played against his former side, the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis. Pressure mounted up for KAT ahead of his matchup against his former team. Itā€™s safe to say that the Knicks star turned up and procured one of his best nights against the Timberwolves.

For the first time since his historic trade to the Knicks, future Hall of Fame forward Carmelo Anthony witnessed KAT play against the Timberwolves. Towns made an open statement regarding the trade following the Knicksā€™ resounding 133-107 victory over the Timberwolves, which Anthony claims compelled the 10-year center to mature.

In New York, we have seen the man KAT. In Minnesota, we saw the young boy that was trying to figure it out, he got here. Now he got to lock in.

Karl-Anthony Towns gave an emotional statement regarding his return to Minneapolis

Karl-Anthony Towns, a center for the New York Knicks, thought back on the trade that altered his career. This was during his first game against his old team. In an interview with Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, he talked about the fallout from his trade to the Knicks and how surprised he was to be leaving the Timberwolves.

There was no part of me that was willing to leave and life had a different path for me. I was stunned. Iā€™m still stunned Iā€™m in a different jersey.

Karl-Anthony Towns told The Athletic

Following a great season at Kentucky, Towns was selected first overall in 2015. He took over as the Timberwolvesā€™ main leader after Jimmy Butler left. This was both on and off the court as soon as he joined a budding squad. The four-time All-Star produced 22.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game on 52.4% shooting. This was over his nine years with the Timberwolves.
