After a year-long delay, the TGL league of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy is finally set to kick off. On Monday, the league announced its schedule for its debut season.
The indoor golf league, which consists of six teams and 24 players, was supposed to start in January 2024. However, damages to the roof of the SoFi Center, the venue of this event, saw the start of this new league get postponed to 2025.
The tech-infused golf league will commence on January 7, 2025. It will see the New York Golf Club, led by two-time major champion Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler, take on the Bay Golf Club consisting of Ludvig Aberg and Wyndham Clark.
As per reports from ESPN, the 15 regular season matches will be telecasted on ESPN or ESPN2. Apart from this, fans will be able to watch this event online on ESPN+.
Mike McCarley, TMRW Sports CEO and founder, in a statement, claimed that the two-hour matches of the TGL will be perfect for prime time and bring the fans closer to golf stars.
After the 15 matches, the top four teams will advance to the semi-finals of the competition, which will take place on March 17 and 18 respectively. The finals will then see the winners of the two semi-finals go head-to-head in best-of-three finals on March 24 and 25 to determine the champions of the inaugural season.
When will Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy face each other in the TGL?
In the first season of the TGL, several top PGA Tour stars will go up against each other. One of these matchups will also see the founders of the league, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy battle it out.

It will be interesting to see how Woods will perform in this event. After competing in all four majors this year, the 48-year-old underwent another back surgery in September.
This turned out to be his sixth surgery on his back in the last ten years. As of yet, Woods has not provided any timeline for his eventual return to the sport, leading to further speculations among supporters regarding his future.
