World No.1 Scottie Scheffler did not give up his crown at the 2024 Players Championship event. He became the 1st golfer to win back-to-back titles in tournament history. His final round at 20-under became a decisive factor in his victory. Top spot holders Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, and Brian Harman failed to catch up to Scheffler in the final round, resulting in the American golfer’s 2nd title win.

Despite suffering from a neck injury recently, he came back from an 8-under 64 to win the TPC Sawgrass event at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. So far in the 2024 season, Scheffler has maintained his top spot, with six top-10 finishes in seven starts. He also won the Arnold Palmer Invitational for the 2nd time in his career.

While Sunday’s game boosted Scheffler to catch up with the leading players, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, and Brian Harman, in the end, they had to settle for a par on the 18th hole at 19-under. Many thought he would not make the cut after hurting his neck in the event, but the World No.1 proved why he has the crown to himself in OWGR. “I did what I could to hang around until the neck felt better,” he said.
