Nico Williams has been on the long-term target list for FC Barcelona. However, they now face new competition in the form of Bayern Munich. Munich’s head coach, Vincent Kompany, is keen on adding two quality wingers to his squad for the next summer.

However, the proceedings aren’t as simple as they should be for the Bavarians. Bayern needs to deal with the contracts of Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Bryan Zaragoza in the first place in order to accommodate Nico Williams. As reported by Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Vincent Kompany is willing to race Barcelona in order to land the Spanish youngster.

The report also states that Williams might be available for a fee of €50 million (£41.4m/$52m) to €60m (£49.7m/$62.4m) ahead of the next summer. The Spanish international who impressed heavily in Euro 2024 was linked to Barcelona ahead of the ongoing season. However, the move didn’t pan out as expected, as he chose to stay at Athletic Club.

Alongside Williams, Bayern Munich also has their eyes on Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. Ever since his move from the Manchester City youth academy to Dortmund, Gittens has been in fine touch, riveting the attention of the Bavarian giants.

Frenkie de Jong might move out of Barcelona by 2026

Frenkie de Jong, who impressed heavily in his wee days for Barcelona, has fallen out of favour at the Camp Nou. As reported by Marca, the Dutch international might not be interested in staying at the club. The report also states that Barcelona might push de Jong to head out for free in 2026.

As the situation stands, there is a glut of Premier League clubs that would love to have someone like de Jong on their side. However, one of the key questions that remain is whether de Jong himself would like to part ways with the Catalans. Barcelona sits in the third position currently in the La Liga table with 38 points from 19 matches.
